UK Watchdog Slams Jeffbet Ad for Misleading Bonus Offer

The United Kingdom’s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) ruled in favor of a consumer who claimed a Jeffbet advertisement was deceptive. The promotion touted a “Wager £10, Receive £30 in Bonus Bets” deal but hid the fact that it was only applicable to first-time users of the entire ProgressPlay platform – not just Jeffbet – in the terms and conditions. Although the business maintained they were sufficiently transparent given the limited space, the ASA disagreed. They deemed the advertisement ambiguous and stated it should have explicitly mentioned the “new customer” stipulation pertained to the whole network, not solely Jeffbet. This decision emphasizes the necessity for gaming entities to be direct and transparent regarding their offers, particularly concerning limitations and qualifications.

The United Kingdom’s Advertising Practices Agency (ASA) determined that a Jeffbet advertisement was deceptive because it suggested that every first-time customer would meet the requirements for the deal. This was inaccurate, prompting the ASA to instruct Jeffbet to remove the advertisement and ensure that future promotions clearly articulate eligibility criteria and terms.

On another note in the world of wagering, Sweden is considering shuttering its four government-operated Casino Cosmopol venues as a result of persistent economic difficulties.
