The Curaçao Gaming Control Board (GCB) has selected Cedric Peters as its incoming Managing Director effective February 1st. Peters, a seasoned expert with two decades of experience at the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (CBCS), was chosen by the GCB’s Supervisory Board. He assumes the role from the departing Managing Director at a critical time, as the GCB prepares for a significant transformation with the implementation of the new National Ordinance on Games of Chance (LOK).
Peters will be tasked with overseeing existing gaming activities under current regulations and, importantly, guiding the GCB through this transitional phase as the updated legislation takes effect. His considerable background in oversight and leadership at CBCS is anticipated to be instrumental in improving operational effectiveness, strengthening anti-money laundering (AML) protocols, and guaranteeing regulatory adherence within Curaçao’s jurisdiction.
Peters conveyed his eagerness, stating, “I am privileged to join the Gaming Control Board at this pivotal moment. I am certain that, by collaborating with the staff and the Supervisory Board, we will be able to strategically lead the GCB into a new chapter while generating value for all involved parties, including the Minister of Finance.”
Sharing this perspective, Fons Simon, Chairman of the GCB Supervisory Board, commented, “The GCB is at a crucial point in its evolution, and Cedric’s selection signals the start of a transformative period for us.”
Hes somewhat of an icon in the financial realm, recognized for his astute approach, adhering to regulations, and achieving results.
