Clarissa Baldwin Joins Greyhound Board Amidst Calls for Racing Ban

Canine racing received a significant lift with the addition of Clarissa Baldwin CBE to the Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB) leadership team. A dedicated champion for animal well-being, Baldwin contributes extensive knowledge to the position, having formerly held roles as head of the Dogs Trust and leader of the Greyhound Forum.

David Lipsey, GBGB Chair, conveyed his pleasure regarding Baldwin’s selection, noting, “Clarissa’s considerable background will be essential to our group. I anticipate partnering closely with her to guarantee that greyhound welfare continues to be central to all GBGB endeavors.”

Baldwin voiced her excitement, stating, “I am privileged to become a member of the GBGB board. Having committed twenty years as Greyhound Forum Chair, I am profoundly devoted to greyhound well-being. I am enthusiastic to work alongside David and the staff to ensure GBGB fulfills its pledges to the health of these remarkable canines.”

The UKs top three animal protection groups, including the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Dogs Trust, and Blue Cross, have united to denounce greyhound racing. They contend that the activity is inherently inhumane and highlight ongoing welfare issues they believe are impossible to adequately resolve. This unified declaration serves as a strong plea for a UK-wide prohibition on greyhound racing.
