Episode Twenty-Seven: Representative Dina Titus Talks About the Gaming Group and the GRIT Act
As the representative for Nevada’s 1st Congressional District and co-leader of the Congressional Gaming Group, she is a key industry supporter at the national level.
Addressing the Excise Tax Issue
Representative Titus is also leading the effort to abolish the 0.25% federal excise tax on sports betting income.
This money is put into the general fund, not used to fight illegal gambling. She asks, why not reduce the tax and allow legal businesses to better compete with offshore operators by offering more appealing products?

GRIT is Not the Solution
However, the representative opposes the Gambling Recovery, Investment, and Treatment Act (GRIT Act), which aims to reallocate this tax to treat problem gambling.
She told the Global Politics Series that the bill’s supporters did not consult with the Gaming Group and ignored state legislation, which almost always requires funding for problem gambling.
Catch the entire program to hear Representative Titus discuss broadening the gaming sector, battling the illicit market, and prioritizing player security.
